We offer what you will never find in a quick-print shop nor an online book process. Sheridan Hill's archival books use archive-quality, acid-free paper and are printed by a high-quality offset press (not a photocopier), using real ink, (copy machines and quick-print shops use toner, which breaks down quickly). They are bound with library-style, archive quality binding, with headbands at the top of the binding. We do not use "perfect bound," because so-called perfect-bound books are hot-glued together and will begin to come apart in 20 years or so. "Perfect-bound" is a marketing term used in the industry that makes a paperback book sound much better than it actually is! I use only archive-quality binding with a leather-like, hardback cover with gold-embossed lettering-- a book to last 200 to 300 years. Archive-quality binding in a small quantity is only available through specific printing houses. I take care of the printing for my clients to ensure that the job is done right. It's a heart-warming, healing process and at the end of it you receive an archive-quality book, printed on acid-free paper and bound in the cover of your choice: high-quality leather, hard-bound or soft-bound.
